Capacitors for AC filtering (general purpose capacitors)
Capacitors for AC filtering (general purpose capacitors)
In power electronic equipment, alternating voltages with a fundamental frequency ranging from 50 Hz to 500 Hz (sometimes up to 5 kHz) are present, containing various transient oscillations generated by the switching of diodes and thyristors. As a result, capacitors are exposed to steep voltage rises and drops, leading to high current peaks.
- KNI 3xxx - Capacitors for power electronics – direct current (AC/DC) – they are used like impulsive, filtering, and smoothing capacitors in power electronic devices (usually in commutators).
- KNI 20xx - Capacitors for power electronics – direct current (AC/DC) – they are used like impulsive, filtering, and smoothing capacitors in power electronic devices (usually in commutators and lasers).
- KNI 50xx - Capacitors for power electronics - alternating current (AC) – they are used like impulsive, filtering, and smoothing capacitors in power electronic devices (usually in commutators and lasers) and like dumping capacitors in AC applications.
