In June 2010, the Otočec castle saw the conferring of the2009 prizes and awards for innovations by the Chamber of Commerce of Dolenjska and Bela krajina. According to Mr. Franci Štupar, chairman of the Quality and Innovation Section of the Chamber of Commerce of Dolenjska and Bela krajina, the number of applications for the awards was record braking, which is a particularly encouraging sign in the current time, so troublesome for the economy.

Applications were also submitted by the innovators of the Iskra Kondenzatorji company.

For the innovative proposal of the construction of a new impregnation furnace, which involves in particular automation of the production technology process, enhanced productivity and advancement of the process principle, the authors: Stanko Kambič, Jože Matjašič, Radivoj Vrlinič, Silvester Rožman, Velimir Ramuščak and Darko Schweiger were granted the silver award for innovation.
Authors: Jurij Kobe, Marjan Vivoda and Franc Plevnik were granted an innovation award for their innovation proposal: Process of protection of capacitor coils by epoxy resin.

Their invention is applicable to low voltage power capacitors intended to improve power factors at low voltages, as well as to motor capacitors and fluorescent luminary capacitors produced according to MKP technology.
