Social Responsibility

From the very foundation of our company in 1946, Iskra has always cared for the broader social environments and the preservation of a healthy living space.
Iskra is committed to technological updating of working environments and products, and we pay particular attention to the protection of our employees' health. We are also one of the most environmentally-aware companies with regard to environmental protection.
Iskra Group is ready, willing and able to help create broader social harmony. To this end, we commit a part of our resources to scientific, cultural, sports and humanitarian causes.

The Prof. Vratislav Bedjanič Award

For the past 38 years, Iskra has been awarding the Prof. Vratislav Bedjanič Award for exceptional academic theses written by final year students attending universities in Slovenia. The prize is awarded following a public notice and selection to the best doctoral, masters and undergraduate theses covering the fields of automation systems, instruments and elements, power system protection and control, and switch gear.
The award, which is highly regarded by the professional community, is a tribute to Prof. Vratislav Bedjanič, the founder and manager of Iskra's first factory in Ljubljana.

Cankarjev dom

Iskra demonstrated its understanding of and appreciation for culture many years ago by participating financially in the Cankarjev dom project in Ljubljana, thus becoming one of the founders of Cankarjev dom, together with the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia.
Following its construction in the early 1980s, Cankarjev dom soon became and remains today a respectable and renowned altar of Slovenian culture and an events centre. In the three decades of its existence, it has hosted numerous international congresses, symposia, seminars and similar.
Cankarjev dom is an important element of Slovenian culture and a centre for world cultural exchange.

The Gallus Institution

Iskra is also a founder of the Gallus Institution, which provides support to young, talented musicians and other artists whose work is related to broader European and global culture. The Institution, which is funded by its founders and other donors, awards scholarships for tutelage and music academies, participates in purchasing musical instruments for young talented musicians, provides financial support to various related projects etc.

The Valvasor Foundation

Iskra is among the founders of the Valvasor Foundation, a cultural institution operating in Slovenia and abroad. It was established as the central institution intended to manage and implement the Imago Sloveniae project.
The Valvasor Foundation cares for the preservation and vitalisation of cultural heritage in old towns, castles, museums and churches, and coordinates cultural events and festivals in Slovenian towns, castles, museums and churches intended to promote Slovenian culture in Slovenia and abroad.

Sports

We have always been aware at Iskra that sports exerts its influence on a healthy and quality lifestyle, a lifestyle that should be the motto of every society and individual. Throughout its 60-year history, Iskra has always been aware of the importance of supporting and encouraging sport. It therefore allocates some of its resources to that end. Iskra assists big and small sports organisations in various ways. In 2004 it became a sponsor of the national Olympics team.
